New Sushi Restaurant Opening In Braintree

The Braintree Licensing Board approved a restaurant license for Sugoi Sushi at the former home of Braintree House of Pizza.

BRAINTREE, MA — A new sushi restaurant is expected to open in South Braintree Square.

The town's licensing board on Tuesday approved a restaurant license for Sugoi Sushi at 958 Washington St., the former home of the Braintree House of Pizza.

The licensing board's approval was the first hurdle in the approval process. Sugoi Sushi's opening is still pending approval from the Board of Health.

The licensing board also approved a license for a farmers' market for Artis Winery, of Pembroke. Artis Winery will sell its wines at the Braintree Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays outside Town Hall.
