Norfolk County Sheriff Awarded Victim Services Grant
The grant from the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance will be used to translate victim service materials into multiple languages
DEDHAM – Norfolk County Sheriff Patrick McDermott announced today that his office has been awarded a Victim Services Training and Technical Assistance Grant to provide translation services for agency materials and improve language access for victims. The $1,500 grant was awarded by the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance (MOVA), which is an independent state agency overseen by the Victim and Witness Assistance Board.
“The responsibility of the Sheriff’s Office is to make sure that we are serving all Norfolk County residents,” Sheriff McDermott said. “Access to translated materials builds trust between communities and helps us better serve the people of Norfolk County. This grant will help us improve services for all residents.”
The grant will help the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office support its mission of fostering a climate of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging by providing crucial information to victims in their primary languages. The NCSO’s focus on ensuring the safety of all victims and their families will be supported through this grant, which will make sure that victims are kept informed of their rights and the services available to them.
