Storm Update: 80 Outages In Braintree, Roof Damage At 2 Schools
The next challenge will be the 11:45 p.m. high tide

BRAINTREE, MA — Outages and the weather continue to present a challenge for Braintree.
Friday, the Braintree Electric Light Department responded to about 80 outages around town. The restoration effort was impacted by the wind, which had gusts of up to 60 mph. BELD called the storm the worst in years in terms of outages.
BELD crews were still making repairs Saturday afternoon, reporting that about 60 residents were still without power and 20 of them required private electricians.

According to Councilor Sean Powers, about a half dozen large trees have fallen over. The DPW, BELD, Braintree Fire, Braintree Police, and Bogan Tree Service responded.
The roofs at Ross Elementary School and South Middle School have been damaged and steps are being taken to address the issue. Braintree Police noted that pieces of the Ross School were falling off.

Gordon Road and Edgehill Road in East Braintree were closed while Hayward Street from Commercial Street to Howard Street were closed for the night.
The Department of Elder Affairs served as a shelter for people who needed to relocate.
