Tyler Forgeron, aka "Tyler Can," Named Norfolk County Hero
The Norfolk County Sheriff's Office recognized Tyler Forgeron for his volunteerism & fundraising on behalf of area nonprofits and charities
DEDHAM – Norfolk County Sheriff Patrick McDermott announced today that Tyler Forgeron of Walpole, also known as “Tyler Can,” has been awarded the Norfolk County Heroes Award. During the pandemic and COVID-19 lockdown, Tyler took the initiative to start collecting bottles and cans to raise money for local charities and non-profits, raising over $15,000 in the process.
Norfolk County Sheriff Patrick McDermott praised Tyler’s drive and generosity. “Many of us understandably felt a little helpless when the COVID-19 pandemic first struck, but Tyler refused to surrender to that feeling,” he said. “By channeling that energy into helping his community and those in need, Tyler has shown us that each person can make a difference. We should all follow Tyler’s example.”
Since he began collecting bottles and cans to raise money at the beginning of the pandemic, Tyler has been able to make donations to numerous charitable organizations and non-profits, including Lifeworks, Above the Clouds, Breaking Bread, St. Vincent De Paul, the Walpole Community Food Pantry, the Multicultural Book Initiative, The Jimmy Fund, and more.

“I love helping out other charities and the community, along with others in need,” Tyler said. “I feel like I am a superhero when it comes to helping out charities by collecting bottles and cans and redeeming them for different charities.”
Tyler will be presented with a citation from Sheriff McDermott at a ceremony to be held in July alongside other recipients of the Norfolk County Heroes Award. He will also be featured on the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office website’s Norfolk County Heroes page. The Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office will also be organizing an employee bottle and can drive on behalf of Tyler.
