Yoga, Field Hockey: See Braintree Recreation's Spring Programs

With spring here and the weather warming up, check out what Brainree Recreation is offering this season.

BRAINTREE, MA — With spring here and the weather warming up, the Braintree Recreation Department will run a few programs to get residents outside for some exercise and fresh air.

The department announced the following program offerings for residents:

Yoga at the Lake

"Yoga at the Lake" will return to Sunset Lake on Wednesday, April 7. Sessions are one hour and will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evenings and 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

This class incorporates a moderate flow appropriate for all levels of experience, incorporating strengthening, flexibility, breath work and meditation. Bring your yoga mat, towel and water. Sessions are $15 per class. In the event of inclement weather, the class will be held at 74 Pond Street. The minimum age for this program is 15.

Premier Hoops

The department will partner with “Premier Hoops” to offer an April vacation basketball skills clinic at the Daughraty Gym. This program will take place from 9:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday to Friday, over the week of April vacation. The cost of this clinic is $115 for the week, and students from ages 6-14 are welcome to sign-up.

Field Hockey

In partnership with the Braintree High School field hockey coaching staff, the department is hosting its first clinic for the sport. This six-week program will be held on Mondays from April, 12th until May 24th (no clinic on April 19th) on the rear grass field at Braintree High School. Cost is $120. The clinic will be offered in two sessions. Kindergarten through 3rd graders will be hosted from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 4th through 8th graders will be hosted from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. While there will be a limited amounts of sticks available, participants are asked to provide their own if possible.
