Brockton Man Accused Of Beating His Father To Death
Prosecutors say Stephen M. Walcott II killed his father at an East Bridgewater home on Feb. 8.
BROCKTON, MA — A Brockton man has been indicted in connection with the beating death of his father, said Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz in a news release Monday.
Stephen M. Walcott II, 42, was charged with one count of murder Monday by a Plymouth County grand jury.
Prosecutors say Walcott killed his father, Stephen M. Walcott Sr., 70, who died from head trauma at his East Bridgewater home at approximately 7 p.m. on Feb. 8.

Following the murder, neighbors reported seeing a person driving a white sedan and matching the description of Walcott II at the home earlier that day, said Cruz. Investigators then found Walcott II's Brockton address and discovered that he owned a white Lincoln Sedan. Nearby police departments were asked to be on the lookout for the vehicle, and Walcott II was arrested without incident when he arrived home in the same car.
"As a result of the investigation and the indictment alleges that Walcott II arrived at Walcott Sr.'s East Bridgewater home around 5 p.m., a verbal altercation ensued, and Walcott II beat his father about the head and face with his fists," said the news release. "He additionally took a dumbbell and struck Walcott Sr. in the back of the head, and also attempted to suffocate him."
