Brockton Would Get Over $1.6m In State Economic Development Bill

The state House and Senate agreed on a $627 million economic development bill Wednesday.

BROCKTON, MA — The Massachusetts House and Senate agreed on a $627 million economic development bill early Wednesday morning, which would provide $1.608 million for projects in Brockton.

The bill, which was passed almost unanimously following a session that lasted until after 4 a.m., now heads to Gov. Charlie Baker's desk for approval.

The bill would provide funding for the following projects in Brockton:

  • $78,000 for Choices4Teens Mentoring Group Inc. to acquire, upgrade, and maintain technology and equipment
  • $500,000 for the expansion of the Mary Cruise Kennedy Senior Center
  • $500,000 for maintenance, repairs, and additions to the Brockton Cape Verdean Association building
  • $180,000 to the Center for Women and Enterprise for the design, planning, and construction of a new innovation center
  • $150,000 for the construction and expansion of a desk and hospitality area at the D.W. Field Golf Course clubhouse
  • $100,000 for the replacement and repair of roads within the D.W. Field Park
  • $100,000 for life sciences planning and zoning
