Former Brockton Pub Could Become Recreational Pot Shop
With Tommy Doyle's moving to where Bickford's was, the location is vacant and could bring recreational marijuana to the South Shore.

BROCKTON, MA — Tommy Doyle's Pub & Grill's former location on North Pearl Street could become a recreational marijuana store if a local businessman can secure a permit. Paul Merian, who co-owns the men's formal wear shop, Tuxedos by Merian, now owns a Hyecorp, a recreational marijuana company.
Tommy Doyle's recently re-located to 37 Oak St. Extension, the home of the former Bickford's Grille. After the pub moved, Merian bought the property and is considering putting a marijuana shop there, the Brockton Enterprise reported. Merian discussed his proposal during a community meeting on Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Express.
According to Merian, the location meets all of the city's zoning requirements, and being outside of downtown Brockton, will cause less traffic issues than his original proposal to put a retail facility on the second floor above his tuxedo business on Main Street. Merian told the community the store would be on a state road on the outskirts of Brockton, with easy access to Route 24. He said Hyecorp is already in the process of conducting a traffic study, which is a requirement for getting a recreational marijuana permit.
