Homicide Suspect Indicted In Connection With Brockton Murder

Takari Elliot was arraigned in district court and indicted in superior court Monday for his role in the crime.

BROCKTON, MA — A man was arraigned in district court and indicted in superior court Monday in connection with the 2020 murder of a Brockton man, said Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz in a news release.

Takari Elliot, 29, pleaded not guilty to one count of murder in Brockton District Court and was held without bail, said Cruz. Later in the day, a Plymouth County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Elliot and Marvin Veiga, 32, charging them with murder and multiple firearm possession and assault charges.

The charges against Elliot and Veiga stem from a shooting on October 13, 2020, when police responded to several rounds fired near 94 Belmont Ave. in Brockton and found Manuel Duarte, 25, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Although several friends attempted to help him, he was later pronounced dead at Good Samaritan Medical Center.
