The vote comes after three days of deliberation from the commission and concerns about a casino in Taunton. The Mashpee Wampanoag tribe recently broke ground on a $1 billion casino in Taunton. The tribe does not need the state's blessing to build a casino and would not have to pay state taxes if the commission gave the Brockton proposal a license.

The proposal featured a $650 million development on Route 123 at the Brockton Fairground that included a casino, event space, stores, and a hotel with at least 250 rooms.
