Massasoit Community College Board Chair Stepping Down

Brockton – The Honorable Robert W. Harnais has announced his resignation as Chair of Massasoit Community College’s Board of Trustees. Vice Chair Thomas E. Carroll, Jr. will serve as Acting Board Chair.

Harnais was named a district court judge in October 2020. A partner at Mahoney & Harnais, a Quincy law firm, Harnais also served as the acting Norfolk County Sheriff in 2018 and serves as vice chairman of the Governor’s Latino Advisory Commission. Harnais has served as Chair of the Board of Trustees at Massasoit since October 2017.
“The College is grateful to Judge Harnais for his many contributions on behalf of our students,” said Dr. Brenda Molife, the college’s Interim President. “I look forward to working with Acting Chair Carroll to continue to support our students in their educational endeavors.”

Acting Chair Carroll has served on the Board at Masassoit since 2014. He is the Chief Financial Officer at Bay State Physical Therapy in Randolph; prior to his current role, Tom served as President of the South Shore Physician Ambulatory Enterprise where he led the employed physicians of South Shore Health System in developing a health system for the region. From 1998-2013, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of South Shore Medical Center.
Carroll also serves as Chair of the College’s Audit and Finance committee and has served as a member of the adjunct faculty at Suffolk University’s Sawyer School of Management. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Babson College and his MBA from Boston University.
