The effort is part of the mayor's plan to help local business owners recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

BROCKTON, MA — Mayor Robert F. Sullivan has announced the launch of the "Brockton Open for Business" initiative, a regulatory reform effort to help local businesses.

The initiative is part of the mayor's plan to help business owners recover from the pandemic as the state begins to return to a new normal.

“The City of Brockton was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and I am proud to say that the City of Brockton is going to be a partner to businesses in their efforts to recover,” said Sullivan in a statement. “As of today, it is all hands on deck working within city government to help our businesses get back on their feet.”

The mayor and his staff will be visiting a variety of local businesses in the next few weeks to give them an opportunity to express their concerns and learn about the help available. According to Sullivan, the initiative will make it easier to do business in Brockton through regulatory and policy adjustments, the introduction of new technology and best practices to help local businesses work with city departments, and the hiring of new staff members who are focused on recovery operations.

“It’s important for the City government to eliminate unnecessary burdens on our local businesses – especially as they recover from COVID impacts – and to create an environment where people want to invest and feel confident doing business here,” said Sullivan.
