Retired Brockton Firefighter Dies At Age 74
Former Brockton firefighter Daniel Joseph Desmond, Sr. died at his home on Monday.
BROCKTON, MA — Retired Brockton firefighter Daniel Joseph Desmond, Sr., 74, of Buzzards Bay, died at his home on Monday, Jan. 24, under the care of his family and hospice, according to his obituary.
Born in Brockton on February 14, 1946, Desmond was a firefighter for the Brockton Fire Department before retiring. He was a big Boston sports fan and loved visiting St. Augustine, Florida and Disney World with his family.
Desmond leaves behind three children, two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will take place Monday, Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, located at 850 North Main St. in Brockton, followed by a burial at Melrose Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and memorial gifts can be made to any charity in his name.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, Jan. 29 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home in Brockton. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral service will be private.
