Reward Increased To Find Person Who Left Dog To Die In Carrier

So many people have donated that the MSPCA has increased its reward to find who left a small dog in a carrier outside a Brockton shelter.

BROCKTON, MA—A reward established to find the person or people who left a one-year-old female Chihuahua to die inside a carrier outside the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts in Brockton has increased.

Since the July 11 news of a dog found dead of heat stroke, the MSPCA's Law Enforcement dept. has continued its open investigation to identify the person responsible for the dog's death.

The MSPCA initially announced a $1,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible. That reward has now been increased to $3,000 as a result of donations from concerned citizens across Massachusetts.

To date, the MSPCA has received more than two dozen tips and Officer Nadya Moreno has chased down every available lead. No suspect has been identified and the MSPCA is calling on whomever may know who left this dog to die outside the shelter in Brockton to call its information line at 800-628-5008.

"The bottom line is that someone in our community knows who did this and until and unless that person steps forward, it's unlikely that justice will be solved, and the senseless death of this young dog will have been in vain," said a spokesperson for the MSPCA in a statement. "The MSPCA is eager to identify and prosecute the individual responsible for abandoning this dog, and we're profoundly grateful to the donors who significantly increased the reward."
