Both students are from Brockton, Class of 2018

Geoanny Calderon-Hampton and Asha Molin, both from Brockton, were selected to participate in a two-day LIFE (Linkages in Foreign Affairs Empowerment) youth program, which took place at Bryant University on June 2-3. The program is aimed at introducing minority high school students to business and professional careers, and it included courses on geography, international business, foreign affairs, multicultural relations, and skill-building for career planning.
Geoanny, a Business Marketing major, said she loved the program and wished it had been longer. She enjoyed meeting students from other high schools and learning about different cultures, religion and business practices.
“I’ve always wanted to own my own business, but this has made me think of going into international business. It really taught us how to get along with people around us ,” she said.
Asha is a Culinary Arts major and her favorite part of the program was meeting people. She hopes to eventually own her own business, and she thinks the program has taught her to how to communicate better with different types of people.
“I loved everything. The experience was great, and I’m still in contact with some of the other students in the program,”she said.
During the program, students had opportunities to learn from Bryant faculty and staff and local leaders from The Links, a nonprofit organization for women focused on leadership, education and service.
