Steven Ford Exhibit 'Parts and Labor: Print and Collage Works' Opens August 5th

Fuller Craft Museum opens a new exhibit to the public August 5th. 'Parts and Labor: Print and Collage Works' runs through December 31st.

BROCKTON, MA - From the Fuller Craft Museum: Fuller Craft Museum is pleased to present Parts and Labor: Print and Collage Works by Steve Ford, a survey of creative inquiry by an inventive artist who has explored the world of printmaking for the past nine years. In addition to his accomplishments in print media, Ford has earned international acclaim as one half of the jewelry-making duo Ford/Forlano (with David Forlano). Using foundational techniques, Ford composes the process driven abstractions with linocut blocks and collagraph plates. These matrices are often re-inked and reprinted to create visually complex surfaces embedded with much of the same design vocabulary as his jewelry—bold patterns, layered surfaces, energetic compositions, and evocative color schemes. The artist’s process is physical, as he quickly rolls the inks, shifts the substrates, cranks the sheets through the press, and at times, manipulates the paper through a folding and flattening technique. As the title suggests, Ford’s multifaceted body of work represents years of focused attention, physical engagement, and superb imagination.
