28-Year-Old Woman Found Dead in North Brookline Apartment Complex
Police found no evidence of foul play.
Brookline police found the body of a 28-year-old woman in a Freeman Street apartment on Wednesday building after neighbors began complaining of an odor.
Daphine Caroline Montle was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after officers found her lying on the bedroom floor of her fifth-floor apartment in the Dexter Park complex on Wednesday, Sept. 15. Police reported that the door to the apartment was latched shut from the inside and mail had been collecting outside for weeks.
Lt. Phillip Harrington said Brookline police found no evidence of foul play. David Traub, a spokesman for the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office, said a preliminary autopsy report found no signs of trauma or "anything suspicious," though investigators are still awaiting a toxicology report.

According to a police report, a Dexter Park employee told investigators that residents had started complaining about an odor in the building as early as Aug. 30.Β The building's security system showed Montle had last used her key card in the basement garage on Aug. 20, the day before her 28th birthday.
Police were able to contact Montle's sister and inform of the death. The state Medical Examiners Office took custody of the body.
