Brookline Arrests: Busted Headlight Leads Police to Jars of Marijuana

Reports for Oct. 12 - 19.

The following reports detail Brookline Police Department arrests for the week of Oct. 12 - 19. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Tuesday, Oct. 19
  • Pot JarsΒ  – Chaiyan Howard Chhay, a 20-year-old man from 21 Jefferson Street, Lynn, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. near St. Mary's and Mountfort streets and charged with possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute and violating drug laws in a school zone.Β  After pulling Chhay over for a busted headlight, a police officer reportedly noticed a jar of marijuana sitting on the rear floor of the car. In all, police reportedly found four jars of varying sizes containing marijuana or marijuana residue, some of it packaged into individual plastic bags. Police also recovered a small scale, plastic sandwich bags and rolling papers. Officer Brendan Kelliher made the arrest.
Monday, Oct. 18
  • Suspended License – Mark Salvatre Scalia, a 29 year old man from Milton, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. near 794 Boylston Street and charged with operating after suspension and speeding. Officer William McCue Jr. made the arrest.
  • Knee Touch – Elias Reyes, a 28-year-old man from 60 A Street in New Bedford, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 and charged with intimidating a witness and two counts of assault and battery. A patient at Bournewood Hospital told police that Reyes touched her on her knee after he asked to kiss her on several occasions and she repeatedly said no. Another patient reported that Reyes had punched him in the arm after he observed the incident. Officer Kevin Fallon made the arrest.
  • Warrants – Jushua Hans Cadet, a 19-year-old homeless man, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. at 300 South Street on several warrants and charged with shoplfting. Officer Mark Harrington made the arrest.
Sunday, Oct. 17 – Thursday, Oct. 14
  • No arrests reported.
Wednesday, Oct. 13
  • Drug Deal Busted – Manuel Orlando Barrows, a 25-year-old man from 38 Bradeen St. #2, Roslindale, was arrested around 6:45 p.m. near River Road and Brookline Avenue and charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws, threatening to commit a crime and operating after revocation, and cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Jonathan Kieran Atkins, a 24-year-old man from 203 Lindberg Ave., Needham, was charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws, possession of a Class E Drug.   • Revoked License – David Michael Hesketh, a 30-year-old man from 11 Easton Ave., Hyde Park, was arrested around 5:15 p.m. and charged with speeding, passing in a no-passing zone and operating after revocation. Officer Kevin Sullivan made the arrest.
Tuesday, Oct. 12
  • No Insurance – Arlene Marie Hill, a 54-year-old woman from 216 High St., Apt. 5, Brookline, was arrested around 4 p.m. near 280 Harvard Street and charged with operating after revocation, operating an uninsured vehicle and failing to submit a motor vehicle for inspection. Officer Alfred Amedola made the arrest.
