Brookline Arts Center Seeks Artists for Annual Craft Showcase

Three-week show now in its 36th year.

The Brookline Arts Center has issued a call for artists to participate in its annual three-week craft showcase, now its 36th year.

A jury of artists, curators and collectors will meet in early August to select featured artists for the show, which runs from Dec. 2 through 19. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, Aug. 6,Β  to be considered.

Executive Director Susan Navarre said the crafts in the show have changed dramatically in style over the 36 years the center has held the annual showcase.

"The new styles for decorating and fashion are based on handmade crafts, with personal style married to high quality," she said in a statement.

The event is also a key fundraiser for the non-profit center, coming in the midst of the holiday gift-buying season. The center was founded 46 years ago and offers low-cost art classes for adults and children, along with free gallery shows and special events.
