Brookline Cancels School Friday
There's still "significant" snow removal work to be done at and around each school, Interim Superintendent Jim Marini said.

BROOKLINE, MA β All public schools in Brookline will be closed Friday, the district announced Thursday night.
"Tomorrow will be a traditional snow day," Interim Superintendent Jim Marini said in a letter home Thursday night. "There will be no in-person instruction and no remote instruction for any students."
The instructional day will be made up at the end of the school year in June.

The school cancellation comes a day after the district pivoted to an all remote learning day in anticipation of Thursday's snow storm. According to the National Weather Service, Logan International Airport reported 13 inches of snow as of 7 p.m.
Marini said he canceled school for Friday because of the difficulty of planning and executing a "robust third day of remote instruction" for students amid limited resources available for staff on such short notice.

Public Works Department crews have been working to clear the sidewalks, parking areas, and roads around school buildings, while also keeping the roads throughout town open for emergency vehicles and safe passage for the past day.
However, there's still "significant" snow removal work to be done at and around each school, including the removal of large banks of snow along curb lines and at street crossings, Marini said.
Remote lessons through the Music Extension School will proceed as scheduled tomorrow.
Administrative and school offices will be open tomorrow.
