Brookline Cop to Resign over Harassment Charges

Officer accused of trying to kiss, fondle Brookline woman while on duty.

A Brookline police officer accused of trying to kiss and fondle a woman while on duty has agreed to resign from the force and enroll in a sex offender evaluation.

Officer Seto admitted that there were sufficient facts to go to trial in Dedham District Court this morning, but stopped short of pleading guilty, according to a statement from the Brookline Police Department. In addition to resigning and enrolling in an evaluation, Seto agreed to stay away from the victim, avoid any law enforcement work, and submit to one year of supervised probation and GPS monitoring.

Seto had been charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery and two counts of assault and battery. All charges were continued without a finding for a year.

According to Wicked Local Brookline, the charges stem from to a May 2 incident in which Seto allegedly forced his way into a woman's home while trying to hug and kiss her. At his arraignment in May, Seto's lawyer denied the victim's claims and compared the officer's actions to a "first date."

With today's plea, the Brookline Police Department has suspended Seto without pay until his resignation. The officer had been on administrative leave with pay since May 4.
