Brookline To Host Panel On The Science Behind Combating Pandemic

It will give community members the opportunity to ask any questions they may have on the topic, said Health Commissioner Swanni Jett.

BROOKLINE, MA β€” In an effort to help people understand the science that goes into combating the pandemic, the town is bringing together a panel of local experts, on Oct. 7.

"This discussion will help provide a better understanding of the science involved in fighting the pandemic and give community members the opportunity to ask any questions they may have on the topic," Health Commissioner Swanni Jett said in a statement.

Panelists includes a surgeon and health policy researcher in the Department of Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital who is also a member of the Department of Health Policy and Management at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health; The director of the Boston Public Health Commission and director of the precision vaccines program at Children's Hospital.

WBUR radio's Carey Goldberg and panelists will moderate the discussion that will focus on ways to end the pandemic, including talk on a vaccine that is in development.

The event is sponsored by Brookline Rotary, the Brookline Department of Public Health, Brookline Parents Organization, Brookline Adult and Community Education, and several other New England based rotary clubs from Massachusetts.

The panel will also be broadcast and livestreamed on Brookline Interactive Group's website and social media.

The panel begins at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7.
