Update: Missing Officer Seen at WBZ Studios

Missing officer surfaced at WBZ Studios in Allston yesterday, according to reports.

The missing Brookline police officer showed up at WBZ Studios briefly yesterday, according to Lt. Phil Harrington of the Brookline Police Department. Reports have indicated the officer might have been looking for a reporter at the station.

Prior to this most recent sighting, Officer Thomas Shea was seen in Natick on Aug. 16 and has not been in contact with his family since. He is described as a 41-year-old white male, about 5-foot-10 and 165 pounds with brown hair.

As of around 3 p.m. yesterday, police were following up on reports that Shea was seen recently in Brighton Center. The 16-year veteran has been out on medical leave for work-related injuries since June 28, according to Lt. Harrington.

Shea was last seen driving a grey 2005 Toyota Avalon with Massachusetts license plates reading 60MG04. His family reported him missing to the Canton Police Department on Aug. 26.

Shea has worked in the Patrol Division at the Brookline Police Department since 1996. In a press release, Brookline police noted that he has access to a firearm and has been "experiencing financial difficulties."

Brookline Police are investigating the disappearance in conjunction with the Canton Police and other law enforcement agencies, including the Massachusetts and New Hampshire state police offices, and local police in Springfield, VT, where Shea's family has a home. In a press release, Brookline Police said Shea's family is "understandably very upset and is asking for privacy at this time."
