Brookline Police Seek Recruits for Emergency Response Team

Training starts Sept. 20.

The Brookline Police Department is seeking volunteers for a new round of training for the town's Community Emergency Response Team.

CERT training will start Sept. 20 and run for 10 weeks. Sessions are held each Monday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Emergency Operations Center on Hammond Street and the Public Safety Building in Brookline Village.

Participants will be trained to serve on the CERT and assist emergency responders during town emergencies, including fires, floods and other natural disasters. The training session covers shelter operations, basic fire suppression, search and rescue, first aid, CPR and an orientation on Brookline's emergency preparedness capabilities, equipment and procedures.
