Brookline Voters Backed Winners and Losers in State Primary

A look at how the town voted.

Nearly 6,500 Brookline voters cast a ballot in yesterday's primary, helping sweep some winning candidates into office, while backing others that failed to win their party's nomination.

Brookline voters lined up behind incumbents Sen. Cynthia Creem and Rep. Jeffrey Sanchez to win them re-election, and helped pick the easy winners in the Democratic and Republican primaries for U.S. Congress.

But they played little role in the victory of Ed Coppinger in the 10th Suffolk District, throwing their support instead to Pam Julian and Kelly Tynan, two candidates with strong ties to Brookline. And most Brookline votes backed Joseph Driscoll for District Attorney, instead of the winner, Michael Morrissey.
