BROOKLINE, MA - The Brookline Planning Board is giving a proposed multi-million dollar theater facility a tentative two thumbs up.

While it has not yet been voted on, renderings for the 250-seat theater and production facilities at 820-846 Commonwealth Avenue were received positively by the board at a meeting March 10, BU Today reported.

The multi-million dollar project is being funded by Boston University's College of Fine Arts and designed by Boston-based firm Elkus Manfredi Architects.

In addition to the theater the complex will feature scenery, prop and costume shops. It will also house faculty offices and teaching spaces, which include a lighting lab and design studios.

Construction of the building will largely be funded by the $25 million sale of the Boston University Theatre on Huntington Avenue, announced Monday.
