The show depicts a fictional crime-ridden early 1990s Boston. The premise in the first season has an enthusiastic assistant district attorney Decourcy Ward, played by Aldis Hodge, arriving in town to clean things up. The white, good ole boy corrupt FBI investigator Jackie Rohr, played by Kevin Bacon, describes the new guy as an "affirmative action hire," but ultimately the two form an alliance to take on the criminal justice system. Things get complicated in season two.
