Driscoll School's Interim Principal Named New Principal

BROOKLINE, MA — David Youkilis will be the next permanent principal of the Driscoll School, Brookline Superintendent Jim Marini announced April 6.

"Having served as Vice Principal since 2010 and currently serving as Interim Principal for the 20-21 school year, he has been a beacon of strength and continuity in the school community during this most trying year," Interim Superintendent Jim Marini said in the announcement. "He has a deep knowledge of the school’s traditions and strengths, yet he is also mindful of the importance of creating a vision for Driscoll’s future."

Youkilis will oversee the juggling of watching over the school as students readjust to returning to full, in-person learning at the school and then construction of a new building.

Leadership at the Washington Square school has been in flux since last year when former Brookline METCO director, Dr. Sujan "Suzie" Talukdar resigned in June 2020 to take a job as a principal in Newton. Talukdar who took the job in July 2018, was among four Black administrators who left Brookline last year.

Before that, Heidi Cook lead the Driscoll School from 2011 to 2017.
