Driver Cited After Striking Pedestrian in Brookline Crosswalk

Woman hospitalized with broken leg, lacerated arm.

A 22-year old woman was rushed to the hospital with a broken leg and lacerations to her arms early this morning after she was sideswiped by a car on Longwood Avenue.

Police say the driver had a green light as they approached the intersection St. Paul Street and Longwood Avenue around 1 a.m. this morning, July 21, but failed to stop for the pedestrain, who had just crossed the street in a crosswalk. The driver was cited for failure to slow for a pedestrian in the roadway, and failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Paramedics were also called to Harvard and Green streets around 11:50 this morning on reports of a bicyclist struck by a car. The bicyclist was reported to be "walking around," but a full police report was not yet available.
