Driver Crashes Into Subway Attempting To Evade Brookline Police

BROOKLINE, MA β A 20-year-old man is facing several charges after crashing a car into a Subway restaurant in Boston just over the Brookline border, while attempting to avoid Brookline police, according to officials.
A Brookline police officer saw the car blow through a red light just after 1 a.m. March 28, near Beacon and Kent streets, and then speed off, according to a police report.
The officer attempted to catch up to the car and started to pull it over near the intersection of Washington and High streets, when the driver took off again. The officer chased the car toward Boston, where it found the driver had crashed into the Subway.

The officer said in his report that because the windows were clouded over and he couldn't see clearly into the car, he drew his weapon "at low ready" facing the ground, but asking the driver to raise his hands, before for he holstered it and took the man into custody.
The driver of the car, a 20-year-old Boston man, and member of Brookline High School Class of 2018, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. That driver was also arrested on charges of operating to endanger, failure to stop for a police officer, speeding, failure to stop at a red light and not duly licensed.

Brookline police say they cleared the scene at about 2:25 a.m. while Boston police remained at the scene to assist with the cleanup and boarding at the Subway restaurant.
Images show the sedan crumpled up against the building and debris scattered all over the sidewalk.
