First Responders In Brookline Begin To Get COVID-19 Vaccine

BROOKLINE, MA — First responders across the state, including in Brookline, began getting COVID-19 vaccine shots Monday.

"Police officers, firefighters, EMTs and all first responders work in risky situations every day and this vaccine will protect them from COVID and the terrible illness that can come with it," Gov. Charlie Baker said last week.

Acting Police Chief Morgan and Brookline Fire Chief John Sullivan and Brookline Health Commissioner Swanni Jett were among the first to get shots Monday at the Brookline DPW Training Site, also known as the Municipal Service Center on Hammond Street.

Supervisors for Brookline's first responders scheduled appointments for staff during regular shifts Monday. The shots will continue this week for the town's first responders at the training site.

According to those who received their vaccine shot, the process was well organized and quick.

"HUGE thank you to Town’s Emergency Management Team and to our amazing Medical Reserve Corps for making sure that so many of our first responders received their COVID vaccines today," Brookline police department posted to Facebook.
