
Crews will have to repave part a block-long stretch of Coolidge Corner after the street was hit by a sudden flash flood during last weekend's downpour.
Acting Town Administrator Sean Cronin said town engineers are designing repairs for the damaged roadway, which runs along the outbound side of Beacon Street from Winchester Street to Summit Avenue, and have not yet estimated how much the project will cost. The street was heavily flooded during a sudden downpour on Saturday, July 10.
"The water got underneath and basically ruined the resurfacing," Cronin said. "That will definitely cost some money."

Besides the road way, water damage from the weekend rains was minor compared to the aftermath of flooding last March, which left dozens of basements full of water and caused considerable damage in the Brookline High School gym.
Cronin said last weekend's storm left some water in the high school gym and at the Lawrence School, but did little damage.
