A witness told police he had seen three of the four people walking down the street, which is less than 500 feet from the Brookline border, while checking each door handle along the way. When they rounded the corner at Harvard Street, the suspects allegedly opened the doors and trunk of a blue Honda and pulled out a large plastic bag, which was later determined to be full of drycleaning.

When police stopped the suspects just over the Brookline border, all four of them were reportedly carrying a variety of objects stolen from cars on Harvard Street and Brainerd Road, including a GPS unit, sunglasses, car keys, tuxedo, tire pressure gauge and radio faceplate.
