BROOKLINE, MA β Now that Christmas is done and the pine needles are starting to fall, you have some time before you have to let go of the holiday spirit. But if you're itching to move on to the next holiday, there are options.
You can toss your trees for the next few days here in Brookline, but there are a few things to be aware of:
First, unlike many other municipalities, Christmas trees can be placed curbside on any regular trash collection day from now through Jan. 19.

However, town officials caution that this only applies to bare trees. Make sure you strip your firs of lights and ornaments, and find that hidden pickle - and don't even think about putting it in a plastic bag - before you throw it curbside.
Also: Do not place your tree out earlier than your collection day or you could be subject to a fine.
