La Morra Remains Closed After Grease Fire

Route 9 restaurant evacuated Friday.

The owners of La Morra still don’t know when they’ll be able to reopen the high-end Italian restaurant, which was forced to shut down Friday after a broke out on the eve of Boston Restaurant Week.

An employee who answered the phone at the restaurant on Monday, March 7, said the owners were β€œunsure” when they’d be able to open but declined to comment further. He referred customers to La Morra’s website, which says the restaurant will be closed β€œuntil further notice.”

A stretch of Route 9 was closed briefly Friday night as firefighters put out the fire, which Chief Peter Skerry called β€œrelatively minor.” He said damage extended from the ducts up to a roof deck.

La Morra was one of four Brookline residents schedule to offer as part of Boston Restaurant Week, which officially started Sunday, March 6. , and are also participating.

β€œOur apologies to all cancelled reservations,” a notice on the La Morra website reads. β€œWe will do our best to keep you posted with updates and when we will reopen."
