Man in Motorcycle Helmet Robs Coolidge Corner Bank at Gunpoint

Robbery caught by bank security cameras.

Brookline Police are looking for a man who flashed a gun and demanded money from tellers at a Coolidge Corner bank while wearing a motorcycle helmet and dark glasses yesterday.

The alleged bank robber is described as a white man his late 20s, about 5-foot-7 with a light beard and no accent, though one witness told police he sounded like a "local person." He was reportedly wearing a dark bomber jacket, light-colored pants and gloves during the robbery.

Witnesses told police the man walked in to the Citibank at 297 Harvard St. around 2 p.m. yesterday and passed a note to a teller. When the employee didn't move fast enough, the robber reached into his waistband to show a black handgun, saying, "This is a robbery, give me the money. Hurry up and don't press the button."

The teller reportedly handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the man left the bank, turning left onto Harvard Street and heading toward Beacon Street.

A bank manager in the back of the bank pushed an emergency alarm button during the robbery and police immediately fanned out in search of the robber, though he was never located. The robbery was also caught on bank security cameras.
