Marijuana Retailer Set To Open Appointment-Only Shop In Brookline
An Arizona-based company is set to begin construction on the cannabis retail shop on the border with Boston soon.

BROOKLINE, MA β If all goes to plan, a third marijuana dispensary is set to open in town by the middle of 2021, according to the Arizona-based company that is working to open shop on Commonwealth Avenue.
On Jan. 25, 4Front Ventures said it got approval from the Brookline Planning Board to start the construction of a "Mission branded" dispensary at 1024 Commonwealth Ave, where the restaurant a salon used to be situated. The building itself sits in Brookline, though the sidewalk is shared with Boston.
Mission Brookline will carry adult-use cannabis brands and products, including flower, extracts, edibles and vapes, according to the company. The shop will be by appointment only and will allow for ordering online, according to the company. Boston has indicated it will not allow the shop to have a line out the door there.

If the company is able to get a license through the Select Board as well as a final license and authorization from the stateβs Cannabis Control Commission, it will also be Brookline's third location.
Brookline became the first community in greater Boston to allow a cannabis shop to open with New England Treatment Access in Brookline Village in 2016 and then Sanctuary Medicinals in Coolidge Corner in 2020. NETA is also in the process of opening a second location close to the Newton border in Chestnut Hill.
βAs anyone who has worked to open a cannabis business in Massachusetts will tell you, the road to welcoming your first guest is a long one β and the receipt of a Special Use Permit is nothing short of a milestone. Not only has Brookline granted our Special Use Permit, but have done so with unanimous approval. We look forward to becoming good neighbors serving Brookline and the Greater Boston area soon."
A representative of Mission said they hope to be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
