Mixed-Use Building Proposed Across from Coolidge Corner T Stop: Report

Developer Raj Dhanda has reportedly filed paperwork with MassHousing proposing 1299 Beacon, a 14-story complex.

BROOKLINE, MA – A local developer has submitted paperwork proposing a 14-story, mixed-use building in the center of Brookline's Coolidge Corner, reports say.

According to real estate website bldup.com, Raj Dhanda, founder and CEO of Neena's Lighting, has filed a Site Eligibility Application with MassHousing for 1299 Beacon.

The building would be across from the Coolidge Corner Green Line station and require the demolition of the current Neena's Lighting building.

The new complex would contain 108 one- and two-bedroom units, rented to residents age 55 and older, as well as two stories of retail. Twenty-two of the units would be allocated to households earning 50 percent of area median income, bldup.com reported.

However, the project is still very much in its infancy; according to bldup.com, if MassHousing issues a Project Eligibility Letter, the proposal then must submit a Comprehensive Permit Application to Brookline's Zoning Board of Appeals for approval.
