New Thai Restaurant Open In Washington Square
Is' Orginal Thai Cuisine opened Friday.

BROOKLINE, MA β If you miss Rod Dee Thai when it closed last year in Washington Square, this one's for you: A new Thai restaurant opened Friday taking the place of Rod Dee.
The owner of IsβOrginal Thai Cuisine is the son of the couple who started Rod Dee Thai in 1995.
"My parents are just ready to retire," Pichaya Promploy told the select board last month.

He said his parents wore out on the business, and in recent years sold the Summit Avenue to their business partners. The also sold two other locations. But they couldn't find a right buyer for the Washington Square spot, so Promploy decided to step up.
He named the restaurant for his mother Is with a nod to her original recipes.

What's different from RodDee? He plans to have a server and busboy.
"Basically same style, just more dining," he said.
He's in the process of applying for a liquor license
IsβOriginal plans to be open noon to 3 p.m. daily and then again 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Fridays and Saturdays it will stay open an extra half hour.
There will be 25 seats inside and 12 seats outside.
