Nine-Year-Old Treated After Possible Dog Bite On Beacon Street

Owner cooperates with doctors, but disputes whether bite occurred.

A 9-year-old boy was treated with antibiotics last week after he was charged by a dog on Beacon Street.

According to police, the boy was walking near Winchester Street around noon on July 23 when a dog, which had been sitting leashed next to its owner, lunged at him. The boy's father, who was not there at the time, told police he thought his son was bitten, but the dog's owner said she didn't think a bite had occurred.

The owner reportedly apologized to the boy immediately and later provided police with the dog's shot records, rabies certificate and Brookline dog license. She also provided a copy of the dog's shot records to doctors at the Harvard Vanguard practice on Brookline Avenue, where the boy was treated with antibiotics.
