No Fireworks-Related Arrests July 4: Brookline Police Department
Although the official Boston fireworks were canceled because of the pandemic, anyone who was outside after dark may have caught a display.
BROOKLINE, MA — Although the official Boston fireworks were canceled because of the pandemic, anyone who was outside after dark may have been treated to one of several impromptu unofficial firework displays around town on July 4.
As the sun set and the sky grew darker Saturday evening, the popping sound was unmistakable. That lasted well into the evening with the occasional sight of a flare heading above the trees near the reservoir here, or a twinkle just near Larz Anderson Park.
Police said there were 18 reports of fireworks throughout the weekend, including three on Friday, a dozen on Saturday and three on Sunday, but police said they didn't have to make any arrests or give out citations.

Police said that in each instance when they went to investigate the report of fireworks, they didn't find anything to indicate there was anything illegal happening.
It is illegal for citizens to use, possess or sell fireworks in Massachusetts, or to purchase them legally elsewhere and then transport them into the state. State law prohibits any article designed to produce a visible or audible effect.
