A mas was rushed to the hospital this afternoon after he was reportedly stuck by a car while trying to cross Cypress Street in Brookline Village.
The driver of the car, Louis Mejia, told Brookline Patch that the man stepped into the roadway directly in front of his car near the intersection of Cypress and Washington streets. Mejia said he slammed on the brakes but was unable to stop before hitting the man, who landed on his windshield.
Officer Ronnie McNeil said Mejia was cited for his role in the accident, though he could not say what the citation was for. Mejia said the man appeared to be drunk and smelled of alcohol when he got out of his car to help him.
