Peet's Coffee To Close In Coolidge Corner
Breaking: According to a sign on the door at the Peet's across from Otto's in Coolidge Corner it will be closing Jan. 25.
BROOKLINE, MA β Peet's Coffee & Tea in Coolidge Corner is closing.
The corporation broke the news to employees last week, and offered jobs in other Peet's but a sign went up the door this week.
This comes after a number of Peet's have closed around Greater Boston, including a popular cafe in Newton Centre and the one on Route 9 in Chestnut Hill. The Beacon Hill Peet's is also closing.

The sign on the door lists Peet's at Capital One on Boylston Street in Boston and Peet's in Harvard Square on Mount Auburn Street in Cambridge as two shops that won't be closing.
"We've loved being part of the Brookline community. Being included in your daily ritual made our days, so please come visit us in one of our other nearby Peet's Coffee locations," reads the sign.

Peet's was founded by Alfred Peet in 1966 in Berkeley, California. Peet grew up in the coffee trade and moved to America from Holland after World War II. Peet's on Harvard Avenue opened four years ago with plans to renovate the space formerly used as a bank. That never ended up happening.
Baristas at the Brookline coffee shop are telling those who ask that a combination of factors lead to the closure.
"As with any retail business, Peetβs must keep pace with changing and evolving markets to enable healthy company growth. While it is not an easy decision, regional adjustments to our coffeebar presence is important for effectively managing our resources and continuing our U.S. expansion," said a spokesperson for the company in an email to Patch. "That said, Peetβs is committed to the Boston region, having added new locations in recent years, including a coffeebar outside the city in Sudbury this past winter."
Sudbury is 20 miles west, or about an hour drive, of Coolidge Corner.
