Police Bust Alleged Cocaine Dealer in Chestnut Place Apartment

Detectives reportedly found safe filled with bags of white powder, colored pills.

Police arrested a 32-year-old Chestnut Place man and his brother Saturday night after detectives reportedly found a variety of drugs, cash and paraphernalia in the man's apartment.

Michael Chase of 22 Chestnut Place, Apt. #M2, has been charged with keeping a variety of controlled substances with the intention of selling them and violating drug laws within a school zone. His brother, 37-year-old Robert Chase of Charlestown, was also charged with keeping drugs.

Police reportedly found the drugs after they were invited into Michael Chase's apartment, which is located about two blocks from the Lincoln School, while following up on a domestic abuse complaint on Sept. 18. After allegedly observing two bags of white powder on a table and a stack of cash by the kitchen sink, police arrested Michael and Robert Chase and obtained a warrant to search the rest of the apartment.

When detectives returned later that night, a drug-sniffing dog reportedly pointed them to several lines of white powder on a plate in a kitchen drawer and a safe with a "narcotic odor" in a closet. After opening the safe back at police headquarters, officers allegedly found a one-gallon Ziploc bag filled with several smaller bags of different colored pills and powder. One of the smaller bags was reported filled with approximately 12 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine.

Michael Chase was charged with possession of a Class B drug with intent to distribute, possession of a Class E drug with intent to distribute, possession of a Class B drug, and conspiracy to violate controlled substance laws in a school zone. Robert Chase was charged with possession of a Class B substance.
