Police: Homeless Man Caught Watching Porn in Brookline Library

Incident comes two days after man spotted masturbating at Coolidge Corner branch.

A homeless man with a history of run-ins with Brookline police faces new criminal charges after he was allegedly caught looking at pornographic websites on a computer at the Brookline Main Library.

George James Brandon, a 27-year-old homeless man, was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after he allegedly refused to leave the library with police officers. Brandon was also banned from the Brookline Library.

Police were called to the library Monday afternoon after a librarian reported that a drunken man was viewing pornography in the library’s computer lab. Librarians reported that the man, later identified as Brandon, was issued a no-trespass order after an earlier incident, but it had expired.

After locating Brandon, police reportedly ordered him to close the websites and leave the library. On the way out, Brandon allegedly spat in front of a group of adults and children, and then began screaming at officers as they approached the exit. Officers eventually handcuffed him and brought him to the police station across the street.

Police report that Brandon has had β€œnumerous” run-ins with the department for being β€œheavily intoxicated, uncooperative and combative” in the past. He was issued a permanent no-trespass order after the Jan. 10 incident.

Brookline librarians are no strangers to inappropriate behavior in their buildings, On Jan. 8, two days before Brandon was arrested, librarians at the Coolidge Corner Branch Library reported that a man was spotted . The man was gone by the time officers arrived and no one has been charged in connection with the incident.
