Police Investigating Serious Pedestrian Crash on Perkins Street

A homicide unit has been called to the scene of a serious pedestrian accident that sent at least one person to the hospital.

A Boston Police spokesman said the victim was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He could provide no further details on the crash, which is still under investigation.

The accident occurred on Perkins Street, which runs along the northern edge of Jamaica Pond, less than a block from the Brookline border. Police still had the road blocked off as of 2:45 p.m. as investigators inspected a red SUV stopped in the middle of the street.
