Police Log: Biker Spits at Motorist, Resident Goes Postal

Dispatch reports for Aug. 16 – 19.

The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for Monday, Aug. 16, through Thursday, Aug. 19. Look for weekend incident reports each Monday and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch.

Best of the Blotter
  • A guest at the Holiday Inn on Beacon Street reportedly received a food deliver order he never order on Aug. 18. He turned the food away, but still had a charge on his credit card statement.
  • A University Road dishwasher caught on fire on Aug. 19, but was extinguished by the resident.
  • A bicyclist reportedly spat at a motorist after a bike lane dispute near Beacon Street and Williston Road around 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 19.
  • A man in a scooter reportedly yelled and swore at a mail carrier after she refused to give him his mail in the street rather than deliver it to his address. The Coolidge Corner Post Office told police it was against postal policy for carriers to give people their mail away from their address.
  • Someone reportedly entered a Glen Road garage on Aug. 17 and sprayed fire extinguisher over the entire garage, including a car.
Larceny
  • On Aug. 19, a Harvard Avenue resident reported that a package that was supposed have been delivered to their house a week earlier still had not arrived. The caller suspected it had been stolen.
  • A bicycle was reportedly stolen from a locked basement storage room on the 1700 block of Beacon Street sometime in the week before Aug. 19. The bike was valued at $1,500.
  • Two bikes were reportedly stolen from a sign in front of 31 Boylston Street on Aug. 19.
  • A motor vehicle was reported stolen from Gibbs Street on Aug. 17
  • A Lawson Road resident told police she suspected someone had stolen packages she had expected to arrive last week.
  • A suspected package theft was reported on Boylston Street near Brookline Village on Aug. 16.
Lost & Found
  • Someone reported losing a 14-inch Hewlett-Packard laptop and a black computer back on Aug. 18.
  • A bracelet was found in front of Brookline High on Aug. 16.
Animal
  • A chow chow was spotted wandering around Welland Road around 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 19 and the owner could not be located. The dog was taken to Brookline Animal Hospital.
  • A 4-year-old boy was reportedly bitten by a dog on Chatham Circle on Aug. 18.
  • A dog reportedly attacked a possum on Russet Road on Aug. 17.
  • A black and white pit bull named "Diamond" was taken to the Brookline Animal Hospital on Aug. 17 after it was found running around a nearby park.
Breaking & Entering
  • A Wii and other items were stolen from a Stedman Street apartment early on Aug. 19. A resident said they heard noises around 6:30 a.m., but that they may have been here roommate.
  • Someone broke into a car at Harvard and Beacon streets and stole GPS unit while the owner was inside Dunkin Donuts around 7:45 a.m. on Aug. 17.
