Police Log: Hit-And-Run Ambulance, Puzzle Shop Attack, And An Injured Bunny

The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for Monday, July 26, through Thursday, July 29. Look for weekend incident reports each Monday and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch.

Animal
  • An "elusive" bat was reported in a Highland Road home lat on July 28, but could not be located.
  • On July 28, a caller reported that their upstairs neighbor could leave their apartment because of bat.
  • A cat killed a bat on Clark Road on July 28.
  • A bat was reported in a bedroom on July 28.
  • Someone called police on July 27 and reported a bats flying around a David Avenue apartment with children in it.
  • Three deer were spotted grazing near Walnut Hill Road around 7 a.m. on July 27.
  • A caller reported an injured bunny on Valley Road on July 26.
Larceny
  • Police were called to 730 Commonwealth Avenue around 5 p.m. on July for reports of a customer causing a disturbance. Police arrested a Dorchester man at the store and charged him with receiving stolen property.
  • A red scooter was reported missing from the 300 block of Harvard Street on July 27.
  • A laptop and jewelry were reported stolen from the 1400 block of Beacon Street on July 27.
  • A teacher reported that a laptop worth around $2800 was missing from the Dexter School and hadn't been seen since May.
  • An alleged shoplifter was arrested after he reportedly took a pair of jeans from a Beacon Street story without paying for them around 6 p.m. on July 28.
  • A teacher's handbag was reportedly stolen from the high school sometime on July 27.
  • Several laptops were reported stolen from a Kendall Street home on July 27.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from a building on Devotion Street on July 27.
  • Two diamond rings were reported stolen on July 26.
Breaking & Entering
  • A witness reported seeing two men trying to break into a car on Brookline Place around 8:15 p.m. on July 27. Police were unable to locate the men.
  • A Dale Street resident called police around 6 p.m. on July 27 to report that a strange woman had walked in to their home. Police responded and arrested a Mattapan woman on a variety of charges, including breaking and entering in the daytime.
  • The owner of a gray Dodge Stratus parked nearly Brookline Avenue and Parkway Road reported that someone had smashed a window and taken a garage door remote on July 28.
  • A passerby by reported seeing a tan Honda with a smashed window near Holden and Washington streets on July 28.
  • Some reportedly forced open the window of a car near Allerton Street and Pond Avenue and stole a GPS unit and other items on July 28.
  • A computer and cash were reported stolen from Nina's Lighting on Beacon Street on July 28.
  • Employees at Boston Pain and Rehab Center on Harvard St. reported that someone broke in and rummaged through the office on July 26.
Hit & Run
  • A driver near Boylston and Warrant streets reported that they were struck by an ambulance that kept driving toward Boston without stopping around 2 p.m. on July 27.
  • A caller reported that a white Ford had struck a vehicle parked in a handicapped parking spot on Village Way and entered the garage on Pearl St. Police could not located the vehicle.
Assault & battery
  • Police were called to Eureka Puzzles around 8:30 p.m. on July 29 after a man reportedly assault a teenage employee.
  • Police received reports of an assault and possible robbery on Chestnut Street around 12:30 p.m. on July 27. The victim reported received lacerations to their arms.
