Police Log: House Attack Leaves a Stain, Kids Found Without Gin

The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for Monday, Sept. 13, through Thursday, Sept. 16. Look for weekend incident reports each Monday and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch.

- A Hancock Road resident reported that someone threw something at their house that left a stain. The caller said they didn't know who would do something like that.
- A concerned citizen reported seeing several teenagers who appeared to be drinking a bottle of gin in a gold-colored SUV parked by the high school on Sept. 16. Officers checked it out and found no alcohol.
- A parking enforcement officer reported that she was being yelled at and harassed by a man on the 1000 street of Beacon Street at 9:45 a.m.
- A brown and white dog, possibly a bit bull, was spotted taking itself for a walk near Walnut Street and Oak Road around 11:15 on Sept. 16.
- A Summit Avenue resident called police on Sept. 15 because a stray dog had come to their door and they didn't want to get near it.
- A Sergeant Crossway resident reported a rabid raccoon in his backyard on Sept. 15.
- Someone reported that kids on recess at the Devotion School had found a sick squirrel at the basketball courts on Sept.
- A dead squirrel was found in the tot lot at the Driscoll School playground on Sept. 13.
- An employee at All Saint's Parish reported finding a cat inside the parish house on Sept. 13.
- A fox was spotted near the Longwood Mall on Sept. 13.
- Employees at the Harvard Street CVS in Coolidge Corner reported a shoplifterΒ on Sept. 16.
- A Summit Avenue resident reported that someone had cut the tape on a package delivered on Sept. 16 and stolen its contents.
- Someone stole a bike that had been locked to a sign near Brookline Avenue and the Parkway on Sept. 15.
- Someone at the Dexter Park apartment building on Freeman Street reported that their mattress had been taken sometime over the summer.
- A man was arrested after he was allegedly caught shoplifting at TJMaxx on Sept.14.
- Two bikes were stolen from underneath a back porch on the 600 block of Beacon Street sometime on the night of Sept. 12.
- A witness reported seeing a van back into parked Lexus and drive away down Linden Place on Sept. 16.
- A Sumner Road resident reported that someone put diesel into her car's fuel tank earlier this month and damaged the car.
- Police arrested a man after he allegedly slashed the tires of a car on Hamilton Road on Sept. 14.
- A Franklin Street resident came home on Sept. 16 to find that someone had broken a lock on the back door and stole several items from the house.
- Someone smashed the window of a Volvo near Brookline Avenue and Pearl Street and stole an iPod on Sept. 15.
- Someone broke into a car on Brookline Avenue on Sept. 15 and stolen a GPS unit, phone charge, sunglasses, power tools and $30 in spare change.
- A Shafe Street resident reported that someone had gone through their room on Sept. 13 but nothing appeared to be missing.
- A purse was found at Zaftig's on Sept. 16.
- Some reported losing a passport earlier this month.
- Someone found a wallet on the T and turned it in at the police station on Sept. 13.
