Best of Blotter
  • A woman called police on Feb. 10 after a man followed her off a train, trying to talk with her and suggesting she pay for him to sing for her. The caller said she ducked into a restaurant in Washington Square and believed the man got back on the train.
  • A woman living in North Brookline told police she got a text on her work phone that read β€œgonna murder you.” She said she did not recognize the number.
  • Staff at Newbury College called police on Feb. 10 after a student’s info was used to set up fraudulent Facebook page to solicit sex online.
Theft
  • Someone at the Mobil station on Cypress Street and Route 9 reported that someone in a white Chevy gassed up their car and took off without paying on Feb. 10.
  • Cameras at an auto repair shop on Cypress Street caught a man coming onto the property around 5:45 p.m. on Feb. 10 and taking things out of a brown GMC on the lot.
  • Someone came into the police station on Feb. 7 to report that a former employee who lives in Brookline had a leased company car that he refused to return. The man said the company that the car belonged to was now longer in business.
Burglary
  • Someone broke into the basement unit of a home on Powell Street sometime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Feb. 7.
Animal
  • Someone reported finding an injured mallard duck in the playground of the Devotion School on Feb. 10. The caller said they were concerned because the bird didn’t seem to be able to fly away and children were able to get very close to it.
  • Police were called to the intersection of Beacon and Washington streets for a report of turkeys around 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 8, but the birds were gone when they arrived.
  • A coyote was spotted on Shaw Road around 7:45 a.m. on Feb. 8.
  • Residents on the 1500 block of Beacon Street told police they had trapped a bat in a box without being exposed to it on Feb. 7.
  • A coyote was seen passing through a backyard on Weybridge Road around 10:15 a.m. on Feb. 7.
Misc.
  • Two patients reported assaulted a staff member at Arbour-HRI around 4 p.m. on Feb. 10.
  • A driver and a gas station attendant got in a scuffle on Newton Street on Feb. 8 after the caller supposedly gave the employee $34 and got only $24 worth of gas in return. The driver claimed the attendant pushed him three times to get him to leave.
  • Someone reported seeing a gray Dodge minivan with a rear door open and someone crouched down in back with a camera on Brookline Place around 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 9.
